Welcome to Year 3 and 4
Meet the Team
Miss Whitehead – Class Teacher
Miss Biggs – Teaching Assistant
We have a number of exciting things planned for throughout the year. These will include days out to museums, visitors, concerts, along with whole school events.
I’m sure you are aware that the cloakroom space is limited and as such we need your support in ensuring your child has only a book bag (no big rucksacks) and a small drawstring PE bag. Please can you ensure all belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
PE kits should remain in school everyday. At the end of each half term they will be sent home to be washed and prepared ready for the start of the new term. PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. The children will not be swimming until after February half term.
Homework
Your child will receive a planner. This will enable you to communicate messages with school and for us to pass messages to you. Your child will receive homework on Friday (in a yellow homework book) to be completed and returned to school by Wednesday. This enables us to mark their homework and stick the following weeks in. Please ensure you return your homework book on time as this will support your child.
Spelling Homework will be tested on a Monday and new spellings sent out on a Tuesday.
Reading at this age should be a pleasure. We encourage you to listen to your child as often as you can, discussing the texts they are reading with them. This should be a minimum of three times a week. Your child will receive a Reading Record in their planner that you need to complete showing what they have read and when. Please can we ask that you sign to confirm these, as they will be checked and rewards for reading given. Your child must have a reading book in school every day.
